Myth or Record

Rumours about Regency and Victorian life arrive at the archive every week. Break the seal, say whether each one is a myth or on the record, and see the evidence.

The archive

Opening the archive…

How it works

Each case belongs to one of our episodes and holds eight rumours, some true and some not. Break the wax seal, read the rumour and give your verdict. The archive's stamp shows the truth, and the record underneath says what the sources show. Every rumour you settle goes into the case's evidence, and a closed case stays in the archive with your score.

Each answer links to the moment in the episode that covers it. If you have already watched that episode here, it links to the written page instead, with all the sources. Think a card is wrong? Tell us.

Questions

How do I play Myth or Record?

Open a case from the archive. Each one holds eight rumours about life in Regency or Victorian England. Break the seal, read the rumour and say whether it is a myth or on the record. The archive's stamp then shows the truth, with the evidence.

Where do the answers come from?

From the research behind our episodes. Every answer is taken from the episode's page on this site, where the sources are listed in full, and links to the moment in the video that covers it.

How often are there new cases?

A new case arrives with each new episode, and older episodes are being added too. Your progress stays in this browser, so you can come back to a case any time.

Do I need an account?

No. The game asks for no account and no email. It keeps your progress in your browser only.
